Is Brazil a dangerous country?

Is brazil a dangerous country to visit?

  • I would like to go to brazil on holiday but for some reason, I'm the back of my mind, I think... Danger! I guess it's where you go but is there a tourist area there to visit?

  • Answer:

No it's not. Just go. You'll have a great time. As long as you don't start wandering around the favellas in Rio or Sao Paulo you'll be fine.

Been a Brazilian my entire life and I'm still alive. ;) Never been mugger either. Is it dangerous? Yeah, a little bit - probably more than France or whatever. But - according to the statistics - you'll (most likely) be fine. Don't worry. Feel free to contact me if you have any doubts. PS: Some places are obviously safer than others. Just don't do anything stupid. :)

The Enquirer

SERIOUSLY??? Brazil is just like another western nation but the international media has created a disgraced country where most children are on the streets, tourists get robbed and have their organs extracted, drugs cartels with brown mestizos kidnap foreign tourist and the worst part is: many people like you believes or prefer to believe in this version. I can't lie saying Brazil is the safest place in the world but it is far from that media pictures. The crime rates in Brazil even are among the world 10 most dangerous countries. There's no any Brazilian city among the world 20 most dangerous places. Most foreign tourist are used to imagine they are rich and brazilians are poor, so they are perfect targets while in a "miserable place". But, none of these smart foreign guys have a minimum idea about What's Like Brazil. That's why I created my channel: to show you what we (Brazilians) know about our country but your media hide from you. It's a very tourist country. Pretty sure there's more dangerous countries to visit than Brazil, you just have to be more alert. Anywhere new that you go you have to take some precaution. What city are you going to?

woo woo LOL

The public safety has been improved a lot in the last ten years. World Cup and the Summer Olympic game are awaiting and I assume that the Brazilian police department is pouring more efforts to improve public safety for preparing the big events. However, there was a gun fight in Rio during Carnaval this year, and couple of people were killed. Well keep in mind wherever you go there are no 100% safe place. For tourist spot, I don't where you are planning to visit but I recommend you to visit Tabatinga, where it lies at the border of Peru and Colombia by the Amazon river. Nothing special there but you can cross Brazilian and Colombian border without a passport or visa.

Of course it's not safe as Europe or something, but it's safe if you don't go to somewhere you shouldn't go, everything will be ok. The South is so much safer than the North.
