How hard is it to find a specialist doctor in Peru and book an appointment?

  • I'm traveling to Peru from Canada soon. I need to see an Ear specialist doctor. I have an appointment with a specialist here in Canada for sometime in Auguest but I'll be in Peru by that time. I'm wondering if someone that lives in Peru can advise me how I could find a specialist doctor there... How long does it usually take to see a specialist in Peru?

    Assuming you will be looking for a specialist in Lima, I recommend Clinica Good Hope in Miraflores (http://www.goodhope.org.pe/). When I arrived in Lima shortly after my pacemaker implant, the wound started to ooze. Knowing this could cause serious complications, I located a cardiologist and got a same day appointment. I think it ran me something like 60 soles. He did not speak English but that wasn't a big deal for me since I speak Spanish, but I imagine they have English-speakers on staff if you ask. By the way, I called my US cardiologist via Skype and he assured me that the treatment prescribed by the Peruvian doc was right on.

In Peru, especially in Lima you can find many ear specialist doctors, there are many clinics that have excellent professionals. Get an appointment for the same day is possible. Sometimes there are doctors who attend only in the mornings or afternoons or 3 days a week. But it is usually easy, sometimes as much as you can take is 1 week, depending on the doctor. For me, the best clinics I've gone are : Clinica El Golf, Clinica Anglo Americana, Clinica Javier Prado.

i would recommend one from a prestigious hospital or a doctor that was eminencias they're pretty good.

There are many excellent clinics in Lima, especially in San Isidro, Miraflores, San Borja, etc. San Felipe is a very good one. You'll find all types of specialists there and you can get an appointment fairly fast.
