What is a reasonable price?

Inca Trail (4 days/3 nights).... What's a reasonable price (in USD)?

  • I'm going to Peru in March 2009 and want to do the Inca Trail (4 days/3 nights). I've been getting a few quotes from local peruvian companies... but i'm suspicious that there has been an up-charge to what I would pay if I booked it in Peru. What's a reasonable price in USD? and what company would you recommend??

  • Answer:

Check out http://www.sunriseperu.com/inca_trail_machupicchu.htm We have used them before and I find their rates pretty fair.

You should go to www.peru.com and get some reputable companies there. You can always go to the Peruvian yellow pages and get some agency websites there. I would recommend booking the Macchu Picchu visit and hotel in advance. However, if you want to go to other ruins or do any other activities wait until you get there. In the downtown area "Plaza de Armas" there are several agencies and you can book the rest of your trip the same day and at a much better price. Be ready to negotiate the prices, never take the first price you get quoted. Also be aware you have to be in great physical shape to do the Inca Trail. Good luck and you will love it. Macchu Picchu is a magical place.
