Italy Independence day?

I need help with information about Panama's Independence day?

  • I need some more information about panama's november 28 independence day. I've looked in books and on the internet but I can't seem to find any more information. This is what I have so far: Panama's Day of Independence On November 28, 1821, Panama gained independence from Spain. Panama is now has a democratic government. This event is celebrated every year with parades and festivals. The parade usually takes place in the capital of Panama, Panama City. The parade has dancers, bands, and performers. The president usually drives with the paraders and waves to the crowd. Flags are put all over the country to show patriotism. A festival is set up with games, music, and dancing. Kids and adults dress in traditional clothes like their ancestors. Games and traditional foods are also sold to commemorate Independence Day. I need enough information to make 5-6 more sentences. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Answer:

Panama celebrates TWO independence days. Panama was a "Department" in the government of Colombia, which was a colony of Spain. So it celebrates, as the Colombians do, independence from Spain in 1890. Then, in 1903, when the Americans' offer to Colombia to build the Panama Canal was rejected by Colombia, the Americans talked the Panamanians into revolting against Colombia. And so Panama celebrates independence from Colombia too. Both celebrations are as you have already described, with parades and holidays from work, with most businesses closed and all government offices closed.

Panama sort of has four Independence Days. November 3rd Independence from Colombia November 10th First Call for Independence from Spain November 16th Bocas Independence Day (the news of independence was delayed to the Bocas del Toro province) November 28th Independence from Spain All four days are celebrated with parades, dancers in beautiful dress, Politicians, and bands (mainly drums) and lots of cerveza (beer)

I need to tell you that the real date for independence in Panana is November 3, 1903. The one that you have is from Spain, but after that Panama joined Colombia until 1903, then since then we are an independent country and we do all you explain about the celebrations all over the country. We celebrate the two dates (3 and 28). Also we have November 4 that is the Flag Day. I hope it helped you.
