How can I get my Portuguese birth certificate?

How can I get a birth certificate from guatemala? ETC.?

  • It's pretty easy to get a birth certificate if you were born in the US but I was born in Guatemala and adopted as a baby. I now need my birth certificate for numerous reasons but I don't have it. My parents have lost it. How can I get another one? Who do I contact? I also need a social security card and I need to get citizenship. I lost my job about a year ago because on my social security card it says "for work purposes only with INS authorization" meaning i need a green card. i didn't have one so they said i couldn't work there. i had a green card but my parents lost that as well. i shouldn't even need one because of a law that changed back in '98. i know i'm a legal citizen. but my parent's never filed for citizenship. i've lived in the US all my life. my daughter was born here and this is the only home i know. but how can i get citizenship and a new social security card? i also recently lost the SScard that i actually did have. what am i to use as identification? PLEASE HELP!

  • Answer:

First of all, stop losing important sh it! second, calm down before you lose your head too! Third, do you know where in Guatemala you were born? Where your birth parents inscribed you? The local municipality has the birth certificate and cedula recods and it's pretty easy to get and almost free. You need to know WHERE your birth parents inscribed you, then have someone go to that Muni and ask for a certified copy of your BC, it should take one or 2 days. Send me a mail if u need help.

Other answers

If you do not have any contacts or know anyone that lives in Guatemala, you can contact the local Guatemalan Consulate or Embassy. They should be able to help you get your birth certificate or at least tell you how to get it. Good Luck!

If you were born in the capital, you can go to muniguate.com and send a mail or call 502 2285 8000 and speak to the oficina de registro de nacimiento. If I can help, I live here, let me know.
