What are your experiences flying with TACA?
-
ok, my g/f wants to travel to ES and wants to go on TACA, I've never flown on that airline and some people have given me great recommendations while others promise never to fly on that airline because of the horrible service and expensive tickets. What kind of food and entertainment do they offer, and do they have business/first class? I usually fly American Airlines or United, or British Airways when traveling internationally. But I don't think British Air travels to ES. A friend told me that Iberia Airlines is also great, but I went onto their website and couldn't find any flights to ES. Any recommendations?

Answer:
I live in an area where for years we had no choice but to fly with TACA or one if it's subsidiaries and have flown with them many times. Most of their flights have First class and Coach and the in flight service is standard, but the fares are very expensive and their customer service is non existent. Even now, with several international carriers competing with them, they cancel or reschedule flights, over book, or leave passengers stranded without a thought of compensation or even an "I'm sorry". Customers be damned. My family and I got stranded in Miami several years ago because a mechanical malfunction in San Salvador caused us to miss our connecting flight. Put us up in a hotel? Any kind of compensation? Absolutely not. I have several friends and neighbors who have waited a couple of years for refunds or adjustments that TACA, while they admit compensation is due, they just never get around to righting the wrong. I suspect that with more and more competition arriving TACA will have to change their methods if they expect to stay in business, but it certainly hasn't happened yet. If you have any other option, take it.

I've flown them between Los Angeles and Central and South America a couple of times. The planes they've used have been older, with less legroom and dirtier interiors than AA. The service is standard, but nothing special. It's not a terrible airline, but AA is noticeably superior.

I have used them several times and must say that I have never had a problem with them and only had great service in flight and otherwise. I would recommend you use them.
