    El Salvador is a beautiful country. In order to better answer your questions, please give more info for this school project. You may want to stay in San Salvador. That is the capital, and you will be literally in the middle of all the fun. The Hotel Presidente is really nice and very close to some nice malls, good restaurants, and the open markets (if you dare to venture). If your intentions are to actually see the country and all of its natural beauty, Suchitoto is a really quaint town to visit. There is a lake where boat tours are offered. The actual town has a colonial feel, and it has a reasonably priced hotel. Cool places to visit: 1) Ataco: Colorful murals, cute town square, incredible contemporary art gallery owned by Gerardo Cornejo. 2) Juayua: Every weekend they have a gastronomical festival with an open market and live music. 3)El Cerro Verde: Huge inactive volcano with a breathtaking view and a cool lake in the crater. 4)Jardin Ecologico del Boqueron- Dormant volcano with a cool restaurant. 5)Las Ruinas de San Andres & Las Joyas De Ceren - Ruins, active archaeological sites, and museums. 6)Beaches: All of them are freat. El Zunzal is good for surfing (I think). I go to El Salvador every summer, and can go on & on. Hope this helps.

Excellent Question. San Salvador is the capital of El Salvador and it is quite big. The best malls are in Santa Tecla , Also visit Antiguo Cuscatlan(lived there my whole life, best Salvadorean town ever!) is not like small town but is not big either. Hotel Alicante is very cheap. Most Hotels in El Salvador are cheaper than the ones in America. Beaches, a MUST visit beach is Cuco in San Miguel. Is the best beach we have the water is warm(like all the beaches in El Salvador) and its a great place to surf. Also as a kid I would always go to the Costa Del Sol( the Coast of Sun, only a 45-minute car ride from the capital.) Cerro Verde a perfect tourist spot. It used to be a volcano but not it's excting and it has very nice hiking paths. Suchitoto is a great town and it has this perfect hotel where you can see the lake. In the end El Salvdor is a beautiful country and I hope you have a great time.
