    I was there last year. Its a beautiful country and people are very friendly. The country has regions, the Galapagos islands, the coast, the highlands and the amazon basin. The Galapagos are very expensive, I did not go there, but I heard that is quite an experience. In the coast you will find the best beaches ever. In the highlands you will see many cities filled with culture and colonial houses plus the highest snow covered mountains and volcanoes, I was in the Chimborazo, Cotopaxi area. You should try to hire local tours, they are great and quiet cheap. In the amazon basin you can find a beautiful jungle. In all the areas they have many many tourist oriented activities that go from simple traveling to extreme sports. Good Luck

Ecuador is a great place! the only thing you should be aware is that if someone tries to help you with your heavy bags i would say avoid that because they will take and run away with it! PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO YOUR STUFF but ecuador it's a awesome country! if you do not go to GALAPAGOS then you are not going to ecuador!
