What are traditional dances of Ecuador?

Am I the only one who thinks I Ecuador is one of the underrated latin american countries?

  • Alof of people know alot of the other latin american countries like colombia,brazil,puerto rico,,mexico,argetina ect.But I feel people do not know as much about ecuador.There were more than a few time were people asked me where I am from and I told them ecuador well my parents are but I was born here in nyc,I still same I am ecuadorian.And these people are like where is ecuador?Or even some would say I haven't really heard of ecuador this country you speak of.I would be a bit shocked but I would politely say it's a small country in south america.Ecuador has soo much to offer,it's a small little country but it is soo beautiful and it's not even that dangerous.It has great diversity,great people,awesome food,rich in history,soo many churches,museums,and mountains,awesome bananas,the andes mountains,amazon,galapgos,and of course their beaches the pacific coast.My two vivid memories of ecuador was when I was ten yrs old and waking up and getting out of my room to walk to the balcony of my uncle's house and stare at the quito's skyline and being in awe and I was even more amazed that I saw mountains.My second vivid was when I was in la costa,I was in awe of the sandy white beach and the clear blue water,soo clean so beautiful and me and my then 5 yr old cousin layed on the white sand in awe of the palm trees,we never seen this in nyc,ah quayaquil,manta,and esmeraldas,ecuador's coast....soo yea who else thinks ecuador is underrated..? ppl should seriously travel there more...I love my lil country I hope to go back there soon

    Hi there, I agree with you that a lot of people here in the U.S. do not know anything about Ecuador, but then, most Americans do not know anything about the rest of the world either for the most part. Lol. I spent 10 months in South America last year, including some time in Ecuador. I knew a lot about Ecuador before I went there (I live in California but was born and raised in Germany, and there they teach you a lot about other countries). Yes, Ecuador is a beautiful country with friendly people, breathtaking scenery, etc. I spent a couple of weeks in Quito and was amazed every day about the skyline and surroundings, unbelieveable. I think that Ecuador has a lot to offer for everybody's taste. I also spent some time in Otavalo (amazing indigenous market), in Baños, Tena, Cuenca, Guayaquil, and other parts of the country. I climbed Mount Cotopaxi up to the glacier at 16,400', and rode a mountain bike down to the lagoon. -Incredible Experience- I always tell my friends about my experience in Ecuador and they love to here my stories. I met a lot of backpackers on my trip through South America, and EVERYBODY loved Ecuador.

It is unfortunately, it's mostly because in the mind of so many people, especially Americans, it is just pushed back because it is 1) so small and 2) doesn't export anything that is a major part of society, at least not here. :(

write to your government to invest more in tourism. If people don't know about it, they can't appreciate it.

It's because of this: Brazil is very well known to be the most powerful country in Latin America economically speaking, it has most of the largest jungle in the world, and celebrate the most important Carnival in the world, besides the women and men are very fit! (Adriana Lima, Gisele Bündchen etc.) The combination of races is incredible over there, and they created Zamba! Mexico, besides it's located next to the USA, and there are millions of Mexicans in the USA who have contributed to the historical development of the USA in many aspects (being one of the most important minorities), the food is something great, burritos, tacos, tamales come from Mexico. One of the most important pre-Columbian civilization the Aztecs were from Mexico. They have such too many historical (pre-Columbian and colonial) sites to visit. And it's the second widest economy in Latin America. Argentina it's the 3d most important country in Latin America, with such a high HDI. They have the Andes, they created Tango, they are such the classy and European part in Latin America, and Buenos Aires is a jewel. They have one of the most famous American wines (along with the Chilean), and the Patagonia... such a great experience. Colombia (your 2 mother country) it's the 3 most populous, and 4 most powerful in Latin America, it has the 2 widest biodiversity on earth with such a tiny aspect, they have very very hot women and men, and they have practically all the ecosystems in such a place. Their coffee is the most famous in the world, and Colombian emerald and flowers are the most important in the USA, and in many parts of Latin America. Besides Sofia Vergara and Shakira make a huge deal with this country. Racial diversity. (Let's not forget about the armed conflict and the narco-trafficking) Your forgot Peru. Why? Well it's just because, Ecuador is very tiny, its like a second Peru for most of us, with highlands, llamas, indigenous peoples, and volcanos, it's like Peru with no Machu Pichu. But hey! Galapagos Islands are very famous!
