Civil Engineering Jobs in Ecuador?

• Hello, on a recent trip back to my homeland, the idea grew in my head the possibility of living and working in ecuador, most of my family is here, and i miss it dearly, also the life is so much different here then back in the states( life revolves around your family and life). I have lived in NY most of my life(since 5) and I am well accostumed to the high quality of life and spending culture. But i wouldn't mind giving all that away to live a more humble life, were you appreciate the relationships in life rather then the materialistic positions. I would just like to know how well paid civil engineering careers are here, and how well of a living i would have. Back in NY im currently a sophmore/junior for my bacholars in engineering at The City College, and possibly plan on getting a masters, if i dont go straight to work. More specifically im specializing in structures in Civil.

  Hi Jay Jay, I am from California and spent some time in Ecuador about a year ago, and loved it. Yes, life is much different down there, but I think it is better in a way because people, as you said, are much for family oriented. I think people in Ecuador and in Latin America in general enjoy life much more than we do, even though most of them have much less. An engineering job in Ecuador would pay a lot less than in the U.S., however, your cost of living is also a lot less. The pay will also depend on your experience of course. Before you go back to Ecuador I would strongly recommend to get some experience in the U.S., which will increase your chances to a good paying job in Ecuador. Maybe, you will be able to get a job in Ecuador through a U.S. or European company, because they would pay you a lot more than any company based in Ecuador. Good luck.
