What's a GREAT mid point hotel between a drive from dominical beach up to la fortuna [costa rica]?

I realize the drive up is ATLEAST 5.5 hrs. & we've never been to costa rica b4, so kinda count on getting a little lost perhaps at times, or rainy weather etc. So think it wld be a lot easier if we perhaps stayed in some interesting town over night maybe somewhere right in the middle of these destinations. Thanks for your help, I appreciate. We're going to costa rica in May this yrs.☺ GREAT! IT will be a dream come true!

It really depends which route your taking if your going from Domincal to San Isidro you can stay anywhere in San Jose, or Alajuela ( there are many hotels in this area). If your taking the route that pass all the beaches north of Domincal you can stay somewhere in Orotina or San Ramon. Villa Blanca Cloud Forest Hotel and Spa, in San Ramon,is a nice place to stay and on your way to La Fortuna. There are two routes to get to La Fortuna, San Ramon heading north or toward Zarcero and San Carlos. When I took my parents to La Fortuna I went from San Ramon north and came around back to San Jose through San Carlos and Zarcero. Zarcero is a place you may want to stop by it has an enchanting topiary park, I really love this little town. A really good place to eat is at Rancho Ceci's (just in case) I hope you enjoy your trip and that this was somewhat helpful.
