Where is the best quality hotel in Costa Rica for a family that wants to be close to the ecotours ?

My wife and I are planning a return trip to Costa Rica. This time we are considering taking our teenagers with us. Our options seem to be either stay in a resort hotel for 2 weeks or spend 12 days on a fast paced eco-tour across the country. I am trying to find a hotel close to the key tourist sites so I can minimize the amount of travel. My wife is partially disabled. Can anyone suggest a hotel or tour for us ? thanks.
