What is a good website if I want to travel abroad in Europe?
-
My friend and I want to go for 3 weeks and visit a few countries. Do any of you know of a good website we can book through?

Answer:
It depends on what you want to book. If you want to go on a ready made travel, you will be best of by a site that sells the tours. I would go for a trusted travel agency where I live rather than a website for that kind of booking. For doing all yourself you need an other approach, there will not be one site to book all, you will have to do your own homework, compare websites for prices, read reviews on the things you are going to book as well as on the websites you book with. A good start is the site of the man in seat 61, http://www.seat61.com/ He explains why and how to use the train in Europe, when it is good to buy a rail pass, and which one to buy. InterRail is only for Europeans, the people from the rest of the world can buy Eurail. For train time information I prefer the German site, it is available in many languages: http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en?newrequest=yes&protocol=http:& But if you prefer travel by coach, slower, less options but cheaper Eurolines can be the site for you: http://www.eurolines.com/ For hostels, there are a few sites, just google hostels and the name of a city and they will pop up, compare the information on the site, read the reviews they show, compare the conditions and the amount they want you to pay at booking. You will find one you like better than the others, but it might also be that you use a booking site to see what is available and go directly to the hostel to make a reservation. For information about the cities you go to you will be spoiled for choice, there are a few websites that are often recommended, as they have a lot of knowledge about a city in a useful site, I give you one sample here, Amsterdam: http://www.amsterdam.info/ If you are going to travel around, buy a good guidebook, I prefer the Lonely Planet series, but others go for Lets Go, the Rough guide, Rick Steves Europe through the back door, or one of the many photo guidebooks.

First of, an inter rail ticket is a must. It gives you the possibility to use the train anywhere in Europe. After that, just put on an adventurous mind set and go where there is room.
