Summer holiday for the family - any ideas?

  • Mum and dad are coming over for my graduation (in Scotland). Any good suggestions for a summer holiday in Europe? Mum likes sceneries... Dad likes... practically anything. Thanks guys!

    There are multiple possibilities: 1. You can stick with the British Isles. This has the advantage that you will not leave English speaking countries. Scotland, as well as England, Wales, and Ireland have beautiful areas where you can hike and interesting cities for sight seeing. 2. You can go to the continent. Ideally you should go to only few countries and to countries where at least one of your group speaks the language a little bit. Or you have to stick with tourist areas where you can expect people to speak English. In France you can find gorgeous sceneries in Brittany (Cote Granite Rose, Golf de Morbihan), Normandy (coast region, St. Malo), Vendee (Atlantic coast), Pyrenees, Ardeche (ideal for kayaking), etc. Switzerland is more or less one sequence of beautiful sceneries. In Austria you can enjoy the alps as well as the Burgenland, Waldviertel, Weinviertel or a cruise on the Danube. Germany has many special routes like Romantische Strasse or Weinstrasse where you not only get to enjoy gorgeous sceneries but local specialities and history as well. Italy and Spain both have their tourist areas as well as their not so well know but beautiful scenic spots. Greece and Malta is a favourite with many British people. You might have less trouble there when you speak only English.

My gosh! Just to go there would be a trip in itself. Get some pamphlets, road maps, and write down places to see and go. When they get there, let them decide. You'll have it all right there in front of them and a map to get you there.

Simple solution....visit Sweden..LoL..ure mum wud love the natural landscapes & mum wud luv the peace & serenity in the big city..LoL..u can visit the site below for more info on what Stockholm has to offer.Or u can always visit the smaller towns in Sweden like Göteborg.U and ur parents can visit Skansen in Stockholm.The famous open-air museum with buildings from old Sweden, animals, beautiful gardens, festivals, music and dancing.There is always something for everyone especially in spring/summer.Hope that gives u that idea.Cheers! :) **fellow swede :)

You should go to Croatia. The county is wonderful. A lot to see. The coast is beautiful. I suggest Zadar or Dubrovnik. Two most beautiful cities on the Croatian coast. With a rich history. Many old monuments, churches... The sea is very clean and warm. Everybody can find something to enjoy. The prices are not that high.
