How far is Rome from Lourdes?

Traveling from Rome to Lourdes on a time and money budget?

• I'm a student in Rome for a semester and I wanted to take a weekend trip to Lourdes. But I can't find a good way to get there where I will have any time to spend in the city, plus I can't find anything for any reasonable amount of money! Does anyone know how I could do it? **I've heard of Vatican Air but I can't figure out how to see the flights or book them

  I'd do it by train, you can get one to Toulouse, or Marseilles and then up from there (sleeper trains, so you save on hotels). Lourdes is expensive to say in, so you might think of getting somewhere in a town outside and commuting in for the day, check your favorite hotel website. I think the nearest airport would be Montpellier, or Marseilles, you will have to check with your local travel agent to see if you can get a low cost flight to Marseilles or Toulouse. www.sncf.fr
