I`d like to know how to go from Geneva Switzerland to Ski Alps?

  • What i need to do when i get in the Alps...Do i need to get any clothes and shoes to ski or they have all the clothes and equipaments? How much i have to pay in the Alps?

  • Answer:

From Geneva your best bet is to ski somewhere like the huge Portes du Soleil from Champery, sonw-sure Les Diablerets or the smaller but beginner-friendly Leysin. For either you can take a train from Geneva to Aigle and change to a train that will take you right to the resort. Villars is also very popular with beginners and you would need to take a train from Geneva to Bex to get there, then switch to the very reliable bus service. Another choice is German-speaking Zweisimmen to ski Gstaad Mountain Rides. All in all the journey time will be under 2 hours to the resorts. Slightly further away are the wonderful resorts off the Rhone Valley - but as a beginner my personal recommendation is Leysin (Leysin-Feydey station) or, if you are there for a week, somewhere like Nendaz which connects to Verbier. Ideally you should buy some ski clothing before you go. Waterproof trousers, jacket and gloves are essential as are a warm hat, a couple of layers of warm clothing and either ski goggles or sunglasses. Oh, and sun screen. You need to be prepared for all weathers, from sunny through bitingly cold, windy and snowing - although the weather tends to be clear and sunny more often than it is not. You can hire skis, sticks, boots and helmet either at the resort or in Geneva and take them with you. All trains and mountain buses have places to stow them. Off-hand I reckon hiring If you stay in the area overnight, expect at least 100-150 Swiss Francs a night for bed and breakfast. A ski pass will cost you about 60 Swiss Francs a day. You will get both more cheaply if you book for a week. As an alternative, if you are an early riser you might prefer to "commute" from Geneva to the slopes and take advantage of the excellent Snow'n'Rail deals Swiss Railways offer which include both return rail travel and a day pass for around 100 Swiss Francs as well as discounts on things like equipment hire. I do this all the time in winter! If you haven't skiied before I would definitely recommend you enrol in ski school - typically about 50 Swiss Francs for a half day group lesson or 60 Swiss Francs per hour for a private lesson. I'm assuming you are planning on skiing in the winter, but if you are thinking of skiing now, then Zermatt and Saas-Fee are your only real choices in Switzerland.
