How much would a train between Paris and Rome cost?

Taking a train from Paris to Rome?

  • Hi I am taking a trip in the spring of 2010 from Paris to Rome, and I am taking an overnight train. I would like to know if anyone has done this, and what its like? It seems as though it will be about 12-14 hours on this train. Thanks

  • Answer:

I live in northern Italy and take this train fairly frequently when I go to Paris for the weekend. I get on/off the train in Bologna rather than Rome, but it's basically the same experience. If you get a berth, it's easier to sleep through the night. Personally, I find it very easy to sleep on the train; others are not always as comfortable with that. The train leaves a little before 7 pm. You'll be able to watch the scenery for a while before going to bed and again in the morning before you arrive in Rome. It's a long trip, but most of it should be time spent sleeping. A few weeks ago, we did something similar. After work we took the night train to Munich, spent the day at Oktoberfest, and then took the night train to Rome for the next day and went home that night.

I have done that in 1963. I don't remember much of it because I was a little kid. We survived it, so I guess it was ok. Actually.it sounds like alot of fun and exciting. the trains today are probably nicer then they were in 1963. have fun.

It was neat. You could see outside some. Made some friends. Be sure to bring food. Kinda rough seats. Don't drop nothing in the toilet. It'll hit the rocks between the tracks.
