Answer:
When you look at a map France, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, Czech republic, Austria and Switzerland are bordering Germany. Italy is just a bit farther. But in traveling time getting to these countries takes time. Half a day at least when traveling by plane and a whole day or more when traveling by train, Europe is bigger than it seems to be on a map. Poland is the only one that is near enough for a train outing, but there are no famous cities near Berlin, as far as I can see now. As you have not yet seen Germany, why not stay in the country, in the Berlin area. Your little girl will be pleased as long as she has a place to play and maybe visit a city farm with some tame farm animals. She will not be happy to be taken on a plane twice more than needed. Berlin has a lot of things to do and see, this is the website for the tourist information office: http://visitberlin.de/en The tourist information office can also help you find things to do you like when you are there. If you want to leave the city by train you can use this site for time and price information: http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en?newrequest=yes&protocol=http:& Try to find a destination that is about one hour by train, or even less, and even in a big city like Berlin you will be out in the countryside within that time. Staying in Berlin, 'business' kind of hotel, eating out, doing a fair bit of sightseeing and some local train travel, about €100 per day plus your hotel, as I do not stay in that kind of hotels I can only guess. If you add a short holiday in France or Italy you will add quite a bit of costs. The plane tickets can be fairly cheap if you book early, but if you wait with booking till you are in Germany you will have to pay €200 or more per person, and yes, a 2 year old child is counted as adult. If you have a short time to visit a city the cost per day go up, as you will want to do more and you can count on spending more than you do in Germany, because of that. I think you will have to count on using €300 per day between the three of you for 3 days in Paris or Rome.

Handiest place would be Prague in the Czech Republic, you won't have to go too far, Italy and France are near Germany on a MAP. Bear in mind that Europe is approximately the same size as the continental United States, and you can't just pop in and out of countries. Cost for accommodation: Check the websites. Cost for transport: Google train fares. Cost for food: Depends on how much you want to spend.

Since you have such a short time in Europe, staying in Germany is your best bet. If you have to travel to another country, it will take time away from your trip. I would recommend that you rent a car and go down to Baden-baden, the Rhine river, and over to the Black forest. It's very beautiful and lots of fun! Dear
Prague is straight South of Berlin, 3.5 hr drive or a train ride. There are no passport controls between Germany and the Czech Republic, if you can visit one you can visit the other. Prague is still much less expensive than Berlin.
