Are there any good hostels in Madrid, and are Madrid hostels cheap?

How do Hostels Function?

  • This Summer, I'm going to travel with a big group to Barcelona for a study abroad trip. Afterwards, me and 3 other friends are traveling to Madrid for a week on our own and are doing this trip on a budget, so were definitely looking at Hostels. None of us have ever done anything like this so we have no idea how they work. My biggest fear is that were going to have huge suitcases (because of the Barcelona portion) and not have anywhere to put them during the day. I saw some hostels that had lockers but no where big enough for a suitcase. Can someone enlighten me on the subject as far as the experience, and luggage storage?

  • Answer:

Basically hostels are places were you bunk with other travellers as well, kinda like a big shared hotel room. Since everyone is pretty much a traveller they are all scared about someone stealing their stuff, that they don't think about going into others belongings. But just to be on the safe side do use the lockers provided. If your gonna have an excess amount of valuable soverigners I would say ship them home, to your parents house or something. If that's not an option make sure you put all the priority things in the lockers, clothes are replaceable but some things aren't so think ahead and play it smart. Some hostel do let you use/buy the use of another locker if it's not gonna be in use, ask the housekeeper about that. Have fun and safe travels!
