What should we do, go to Europe or Not?
-
Me and my fiance is getting married in June and taking a honeymoon right after. We are already thinking about next year. We would like to travel through Europe and hit 3 countries in a 2 weeks span. We've never been to Europe and think this will be exciting. We've taken a vacation last year and will be going on our honeymoon this year. So Europe sounds like a lot of fun for next year but going to Europe it so expensive. Especially for us, we are college students. Well he is anyway, I just finished my master's degree in December. Anyway, we have been been really stretching money the past two years between our vacation last year and wedding & honeymoon this year. A part of us want to just take at least one year to put some money to the side and not spend on expensive things like vacations. At the same time, knowing how expensive it is, we feel like it is the best opportunity for us to go to Europe and enjoy while we have the time and money. Now, both of us really need new computers and are ready to trade in our PCs for mac books but as you know Mac Book Pros are expensive and for 2, it'll cost a lot of money. I just don't know what we should do. We don't know whether we should just go to Europe and have the time of our lives but that would also mean that we can't get the mac books for a while or if we should just get our mac books and do something local. It will allow us to put some money in the bank and take it easy. Another reason why I want to go to Europe within year is because we've been discussing having children soon too and we know how expensive children are and we just don't see us going to Europe for a really long time once a baby come. I don't know. I'm rambling but any ideas on what we should do.

Answer:
First thing first, why go for a macbook pro if you are trying to save money? I'm a big mac fan but I'm also realistic, they are overpriced for what you get. You can get a better and more powerful pc laptop for less money. So unless you reaaaallly want a mac because your in love with the design then sacrifice your holiday for it but computers come and go while holiday's can be an experience of a lifetime. Go to Europe, have a wonderful time then come home and start planning computers and babies.

Hi babygirl, I think the best time to go to Europe is before you both enter the workforce. Here's what I would do: Go on a shorter and less expensive honeymoon this year, and you can save a lot of money on a not so expensive wedding. Until you go next year to Europe try to cut down on things that are not really necessary. Instead of going out a lot, stay him and have some fun in your own place. Yes, Europe is kinda expensive but only because the Euro is pretty strong, right now it cost you $ 1.42 to get Euro 1.00. You said you wanna visit 3 countries in 2 weeks, which I think is a smart idea. A lot of people from the U.S. wanna see all of Europe in 2 weeks, and they do, but actually see nothing. Have you already decided which countries you wanna visit? Keep in mind that London is the most expensive city in Europe, and the weather in England sucks. Lol. I would visit Germany, France, and Switzerland. There's a lot of history, great food, so many things to see and do. A combination of these 3 countries will cut down on travel time and expenses because they are all very close to each other. To go from place to place you can either get a 3-country ticket by rail, or rent a car. Rental cars are pretty pricey though. For rail travel go to: www.bahn.com This is the website of the German Railroad (it is in English as well), and you can find out prices, schedules, specials, etc. When going out to eat avoid the tourist restaurants. You find good food in the street from street vendors, restaurants in shopping malls, in large grocery stores, some butcher shops and many other places where the locals go. For hotel accommodation use any of the international hotel websites, however, I would concentrate on local hotels rather than the big chains like Hilton, Sheraton, Hyatt, etc. because those hotel chains are pretty expensive. When eating out, please keep in mind that you do not tip in Europe since the tip (around 12%) is always included in the price. Typically people just round it up to the next full Euro amount, or if the service is extremely good then you should give a small tip. Have a great trip. Just do it!!!
