-
I want to go on a foreign exchange trip, but i don't know what one to choose.. where has warmer weather? where is safe? what has better ocean water (and waves)? i am taking spanish in school right now, would it be worth it to learn take another language? i love taking pictures of nature, i would love somewhere on the beach.. Does anyone know what program to go through? or what high school year is best to go? The places i am considering going are spain, sweden, costa rica, france, italy or?...

Answer:
Sweden isn't very warm, although it has some nice beaches in summer. The nature is beautiful (but Norway is incredible). I know several people that really enjoyed their exchanges in Sweden and Norway. If you take Spanish in school, it would make sense to go to Spain to improve your language skills. The people are friendly, nature/beaches are beautiful, and it's warmer than much of Europe. France (especially southern France) and Italy have similar climates, and meet your preferences as well. I haven't been to Costa Rica, but I have a friend that did a semester of university there and loved it. The program will depend on where you want to go, the best thing is to speak with your school counselor about the possibilities. Most people go their sophomore or junior year (if you are in the US, you don't say).

For France, the Meditterranean Sea is pretty awesome and very beautiful. But Costa Rica probably has great beaches too. Italy, is probably burning hot in summers, since when I went to Rome and Florence in October 2008, it was still very hot and you'd basically be sweating all day if your walking all day long, but it's worth it. Sweden is probably cooler during the Fall, and it will snow in winter, so summers are probably nice warm, occasionally hot weather. Well, languages are very useful, especially for getting into universities, but keep in mind if that language will still be useful for you in the future. I would suggest the younger you are in high school, the better, since less stress, homework and things to worry about.

Madrid is a very good choice to go for spring but for summer pick cannes in France.
