I plan on having a month or two long vacation in Europe, I have some places I want to go to but would like to know what are you favorite places and maybe a short description of why. I like historical places but that's not a big factor in my vacation. So what are your ideas?

Well If you do like historical places Lithuania would be the place to Visit since it has over 4000 years of history and some awesome historical ornaments . The most famous historical place now would be the Trakai Castle Which was built in the 14th century. Because Trakai Castle has undergone renovations, it offers an appropriate home to some of Lithuania's most interesting archeological artifacts, religious objects, coins, and finds preserved from excavation of the castle grounds. Trakai was a medieval capital of Lithuania, and it still retains its historic charm. Visitors to Trakai may enjoy one of the town's festivals, which include recognition of its history. Because Trakai was built in the midst of three lakes, waterside walks and picnics can be enjoyed. Hill Of Crosses Another Famous Historical Place would be The Hill of Crosses in Šiauliai, Lithuania, is one of the most mysterious, beautiful, and spiritual places in the country. Decorated with thousands of crucifixes, the Hill of Crosses is a long-standing Lithuanian tradition of individual devotion at a single, sacred place. The Origins of the Hill of Crosses sources vary as to when the crosses first started appearing on the hill near Šiauliai. The town itself was founded in 1250 AD, and it may be that the early inhabitants of the area began the tradition of placing crosses here. Records of crosses appear as early as the 1800’s. There is probably some connection between the increase in crosses at this time with the response to a rebellion in 1831 against tsarist infringement. The Hill of Crosses was used as a pilgrimage site until the 20th century, the number of crosses growing steadily from a few hundred to thousands. The Hill came under threat during the Soviet regime, when it was bulldozed 3 times by Russians, purposefully flooded, and the road leading there blockaded. Each time, more crosses reappeared, and the Hill of Crosses' spiritual symbolism grew more meaningful. But it was only recently after the breakup of the USSR, the Hill of Crosses gained worldwide fame. Pope John Paul II visited the sacred site in 1997. Not only a Lithuanian symbol of spiritual tenacity, it was now an international site of devotion. Curonian Spit Since the break of the URSS Union The Curonian Spit has become the tourism hot spot.
