How long would it take a package to be delivered from Budapest, Hungary to Knoxville, TN in the US?
-
So I'm getting a free sample of something and was just wondering if anybody has had any experience getting packages from over seas, and how long it would take. Considering it's a sample, I'm thinking it will be the cheapest shipping they could have done, but I'm not for sure. Basically can someone tell me the best/worst case scenario on how long it will be. The package was sent abroad earlier today, so when should I expect it?

Answer:
Anywhere from a week to two months. It is undoubtedly coming surface mail, and it has to go through customs. Don't stand by the mailbox.

Very hard to say. sent my sister in Minn. a letter from Budapest in mid Nov. of 2010, it took exactly one day shy of 9 weeks to arrive. The Hungarian post told us it would only take 7 to 10 days so we posted it regular mail otherwise 4 to 5 day delivery would of cost over $30. to mail special post. We went in to complain a couple of times about her not receiving the letter as it was rather important paper work for immigration. They first blamed the X mas mail then something to do with US security. I think it just was sitting at the bottom of a post bag and was forgotten for awhile. Sent package from Budapest to my son in NV about 9 years ago and he got it within 2 months. Sent myself several packages from NV to Hungary both to the countryside and once to Budapest. The packages to the countryside got there within 2 months time with ground(ship) and the one to the city got lost in the Netherlands for 5 1/2 months. Had to put out an insurance claim before they looked seriously as to where it was sitting. Good luck, the problem in with the Hungarian side of the post not the US side in most cases. Really, I believe the US postal workers care more then their counterparts do over here. I live in Hungary now and know how slow it can be. Everyone here just wants more money without doing anything for it. As it turned out, I should of paid extra for postage from the start because it has cost me allot. Had to pay for an extention from immigration because my papers were filed too late for them and I had to pay overnight delivery from the US back to Hungary because the Hungarian post was so late from the beginning. immigration is messed up now, months behind and no one here in any official sort of job will take resonsibility for anything, they like to pass the buck here. Too much red tape. Sorry to vent here but don't hold your breath.
