European vacation movies? Any suggestions?
-
My best friend and I are going on a tour of Europe next June and decided a fun way to count down until our departure date would be to watch movies about the countries we'll be visiting every month until we leave. Does anyone know of any good movies about the following places? (I'm including a few movies I already know of) 1. London - What a Girl Wants 2. Paris - Moulin Rouge 3. Amsterdam 4. Germany (Heidelberg) 5. Switzerland (Lucerne) - The Sound of Music 6. Verona - Letters to Juliet 7. Venice 8. Rome - Angels and Demons - Roman Holiday 9. Florence 10. The French Riviera (Nice, Cannes and Monaco) 11. Barcelona 12. Madrid Any recommendations would be much appreciated!! THANKS!

What a great idea. I might have to do the same before travelling to Europe net year. Here are some suggestions all of which I have watched. 1. London - "Love Actually" Much funnier, sweeter and original than "Valentines Day". "The Kings Speech" Really enjoyed this one it lived up to it's Oscars hype "Sherlock Holmes" The most recent with Robert Downey Jr as Sherlock. "Match point" with Johnathan Rhys Meyers " Wimbledon" also any of the "Bridget Jones" movies ... or "Notting Hill", "About a Boy" 2. Paris - "The Phantom of the Opera" There are two versions of this. "Amelie" Highly regarded and reviewed by many people. A little quirky though. " Julie & Julia" Half of which is set in Paris, the other half in the USA " The valet" A french comedy about mistaken identities.. hillarious.. " Marie Antoniette" many versions the newest stars Kirsten Dunst the Palace of Versailles is simply gorgeous.. 7. Venice - "The Tourist" with Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie a recent film " Just Married" feauting Ashton Kutcher and Britney Murphey a comedy 8. Rome - "Eat pray love" Ok perhaps not but when I young I remember "the Lizzie Mc Guire movie" ha ha 9. Florence - "Under the Tuscan sun" " A room with a view" " Much ado about nothing" - yes Shakespeare he he 10. The French Riviera - "Monte Carlo" a recent girly flick with Leighton Meester and Selena Gomez "Once apon a crime" an oldie but still entertaining 11. Barcelona - "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" I racked my brains trying to think of suggestions for the other cities but could't come up with much unless you want to watch "Heidi" for Swizterland he he. Or "Inglorious Bastards", "Schindlers list" Germany. Other movies featuring Europe in general you might like are: * "In Bruges" - with Colin Farell.. a darkish comedy * "Before sunrise" and "Before sunset" * "Only you" Rober Downey Jr and Marisa Tomei which features Venice,Rome and Sorrento * "The talented Mr Ripley" - Rome and Venice * "If it's Tuesday it must be Belgium" - an old movie set around the tourbus group and its dynamics * "My life in Ruins" - a recent movie set around a tour bus travelling around Greece * "Chocolat" - with Johnny Depp * "Life is beautiful" - a touching movie set in Italy ... a must see... a movie about the human spirit * " The three musketeers"
