How do I get Italian Citizenship?

Can I get Romanian Citizenship? And how long will it take?

  • I've been thinking of getting my Romanian citizenship and passport. According to my mother, I never received a Romanian passport and we both don't know if I'm still considered a citizen of Romania. Here is my situation: 1) I used to be fluent in Romanian long ago, but I no longer speak the language. I also cannot read or write Romanian. 2) Both my biological parents were born in Romania, as well as my grandparents, and my grandparent's parents. My brother and I (as well as a few cousins) are the only ones born in the United States. 3) I've lived in Bucharest, Romania for only 2 years (1992 to 1994), after that, I moved back to the USA with my family because of medical issues. It was nothing too major, just that my mother got tired of waiting close to a month for American medicine because at that time, Romania didn't have medicine that we needed. Will I still be able to get Romanian citizenship even without knowing the language? Would I be able to get a passport as well? If I have to know the language, I'm willing to learn Romanian at my local state university, as their Romanian program is partnered with the Romanian Consulate. I know my soon-to-be husband would want Romanian citizenship, we are willing to live their for 3 years just to get him the citizenship in the future (he really wants to live in Spain, but it's faster for him to get EU citizenship/passport through Romania instead of Spain). Also, about how long will getting a passport and citizenship will take? How much will it cost me? Thanks for answering! I tried Googling it, but I didn't see anything pertaining to me.

Terms under par. 1 letter. a) can be reduced to half if the applicant is an internationally renowned personality or has invested in Romania amounts to over 500,000 euros. Romanian citizenship by former Romanian citizens before 22 December 1989 have lost their Romanian citizenship or reasons beyond the citizenship has been built without their consent, and their descendants can regain up to second degree or they can granted Romanian citizenship, upon request, keeping the foreign nationality and the residence in Romania or maintaining it abroad, if they meet conditions: a) proves the conduct, actions and attitude, loyalty to the Romanian state, does not take or support legal actions against public order or national security and said that in the past did not take any such actions; b) has reached age 18; c) is known with good behavior and has not been convicted in the country or abroad for an offense that makes him unworthy of being a Roman citizen; d) knows the Romanian language and have basic notions of Romanian culture and civilization, sufficiently to integrate in social life Procedure of granting Romanian citizenship: The application for Romanian citizenship commission for finding addresses the conditions for granting citizenship, which operates under the Ministry of Justice. Examination of the committee will be made only after a lapse of 30 days from the date of its publication. In order to solve the application, the committee may order: a) The complainant called for completing the paperwork for any explanations, as well as an interview. Unjustified failure at two consecutive draws its rejection as unsupported; b) request from any authority relations; c) citation to anyone who could give useful information. P.S: I'm a romanian and i do wonder one thing, how in the earth is it possible not to know romanian language if your both parents are ro's? It's really a shame. If you knew the language, you were eligible to get the romanian citizenship without going through such formalities even if you didn't reside in Romania ;)

Live there for 3 years! Try relearning Romanian. My father is not Romanian at birth so he had to live there for 4-5 years (I'm not sure). Noroc!
