Where is the best place for shopping in Madrid?

Euro Trip (which place to visit?)?

  • I wonder if among these few places, Madrid, Barcelona, Rome, London and Berlin, which city is the best place to visit? for the architecture, shopping, people and food.

  • Answer:

Each of these is the 'best' if you like it best. Berlin is known for its modern architecture, London for a mix between old and modern, Barcelona for Gaudi but the city has a lot more to offer, Rome and Madrid show more their older roots. England and Germany are not known for food, but I have always eaten well there. They both offer traditional food for their country as well as many options for international cuisine. Spain and Italy are more known for their cuisine, but will offer fewer options from around the world. But in the major cities you should still find enough. People are people, when you are friendly, they are friendly to you. In England and Germany a bit more cool, in Spain and Italy a bit more exited, but as a tourist you will feel welcome everywhere. Shopping is very international these days, you will have troubles finding one chain of stores that sells just the produce of the country, and you will not find any that has exclusive rights and those items will not be sold abroad as well. The only reason to choose for one city above others for shopping is when you can afford designer clothing for their proper prices and want to visit the designers boutiques or when you hope to find cheaper options for those designer clothes in special outlets in the city they work. If so, you will know where to go, otherwise, just select on the looks of the city and see what shopping is available when there. For me the biggest difference is that London and Berlin have colder weather than the other three, most of the time that is. Weather being unpredictable.

Well, these are all great cities and I liked them all when I went there, however there are some important things you should take in to consideration when going to each city. Berlin's nice, it has some great architecture and I personally would check out the Unter der Linden. Its a street where you can see pretty much all of the cities history in one street. One thing I disliked about Berlin was the U-Bahn but that might just be me. London is amazing, just to see all the sights and the history is fascinating. However it can get very touristy so try going when its cooler. Rome is great, must check out the Vatican even if your not a Catholic. The art is just great and the food is top notch. Personally if your thinking of going to Spain, I'd go to Barcelona but that's just me, I found Madrid a little bit boring. Note: the weather in London and Berlin will be much colder than the others, in Winter it will drop below zero and for the last couple of years it has been snowing regularly. Also the further North in Europe, the more people become a bit more formal, so you should consider that as well. Have fun on your trip.
