What are good places to visit in Austria?

Places to visit in Austria...???

  • I will be renting a car and traveling around in Germany and Austria. I am wanting to find some good places to visit. I'm looking for smaller cities, maybe someplace that is not too touristy. I have found a few places to go to in Germany but I have no idea of where to go in Austria.

    Salzburg, Innsbruck, Vienna, and Kitzbühel - with the exception of Vienna, they all offer breathtaking views of the Austrian Alps which is one of the main reasons for visiting Austria in the first place...Salzburg (birthplace of Mozart and famous for its music festival) and Innsbruck are absolute jewels and the little medieval city of Kitzbühel is a premier ski resort (still beautiful to see outside the ski season - you can take a tram up the mountain for more spectacular views of the peaks). Overall though, Austria is less "touristy" than other European countries.

vienna and salzburg? touristy is what you make it. check out the museums but stay away from the sound of music tour

Try the Austrian Alps. Innsbruck, Salzburg. Vienna is considered a big city, so I wouldn't say it's small.
