What is the best way to get from Glasgow to Calais?

• I am planning a trip to France this year to a campsite just outside Calais. I am travelling alone and meeting a friend over there but I am not sure of the best way to get there. I am not taking my car as I am not confident enough to drive in France, especially as they drive on the right and my car is for UK roads. I checked out the Euro Tunnel website but the only option I can see is for taking a car. Surely you can travel in the Channel Tunnel without a car? I'd be grateful for any advice, website links, costs etc. Thanks :)

  When traveling by car you would not have to drive much in France, not at all if you leave your car in Dover. The easier way to get to Calais is to take a ferry, cheaper than the tunnel with car. And if you want to travel by train without a car through the Channel you need to start farther away from the coast and there are very few trains to Calais. Getting across as foot passenger is simple and not expensive. Traveling by train through all of the UK is possible, if you book as early as you can you can get some reasonably priced tickets. I would travel to Dover and go on by ferry. Traveling by coach is likely cheaper but as I do not travel by coach I can not tell you which company to use for Glasgow to Dover or even Calais. Flying is an option, certainly when you book early, it is possible that flying to Paris and a train back to Calais is cheaper than flying to London and go on by train or coach.
