Is traveling to Northern Ireland safe?

Traveling to Ireland question? Please help : )?

  • Traveling to Ireland question? Please help : )? Hi, I am planning to travel to Ireland very soon. I am wondering how do I rent a cabin/cottage there if I choose not to rent a hotel room? Also, if I choose not to be apart of the tour packages.. How do I go about touring the island myself? Where can I find information about things to do. I will be landing in Dublin, but I want to travel to Cork as well as to the Northern side to Belfast..and maybe on to Galway. I have a week.. So I am oping to explore all the beauties I can. Thank you to anyone that can help : ) And I hope this wasn't to hard to read or understand..

  • Answer:

Try Rent A Cottage in the Republic. They're quite good. Prices are a lot cheaper in Northern Ireland, you could probably affoard to stay in an upmarket hotel. I recommend Jurrys Inn.

Ok well www.discoverireland.ie is a good source of info on place to visit. If you are only around for a week it maybe just as cheap to stay in a nice b&b rather than renting a cottage. Here are some websites bout renting a cottage if you wanna investigate. www.HogansIrishCottages.com IrelandAtHome.com/Cottage-Holidays www.ImagineIreland.com www.rentacottage.ie/ Alternativelt he TravelLodge offer rooms at 19euro now if you book for the summer. I'd recommend you start in Dublin then get train to Cork http://www.irishrail.ie/your_journey/timetables_junction1.asp the earliest possible and the either return to the cpital with a later train or stay in a b&b that night. You can only get a train to Belfast from Dublin so you'll need to return to Dublin. http://www.irishrail.ie/your_journey/timetables_junction1.asp Always book tickets online as deals make them cheaper than at train station! Another travel idea could be to be to fly out from dub to cork or belfast and can sometimes be cheaper than train. http://www.corkairport.com/flight_info/timetables.html www.belfastcityairport.com I nearly forgot Bus Eireann!buses offer good rates to cork and belfast.Buses especially are cheaper. www.corktourist.com/travel_info/ www.butlers-buses.com/airport-bus.htm

Hi! Donegal is definitely one place you should consider travelling to while in Ireland. Its in the north of the country with a beautiful coastline and some amazing sights to see. Amazing restaurants too! I stayed in a wonderful country cottage called millstone cottages. I found that Self catering a great way to enjoy all the cosy comforts of home. The hosts are lovely and I loved my break away with the family. Their website is www.millstonecottages.com. I highly recommend this place. You should also visit Galway and perhaps try the Galway Bay Hotel. I hope you enjoy Ireland! :)

A week isn't really enough to see the best of Ireland, I would recommend picking a region and staying there. You could look at taking the bus around Ireland - www.buseireann.ie - or taking the train - www.irishrail.ie - but you need to be aware that public transport in Ireland leaves much to be desired, and services can be sporadic. And the real beauties are away from the cities. Ireland's best resource is its countryside, which you can get to by car or bicycle from any of the towns or cities. Bear in mind before renting a car that you also have to pay for petrol, which is currently €1.23 per litre on average (there are 3.5 litres to the gallon, so do the maths) and that you cannot drive here the way you can drive in most other countries, we simply do not have the infrastructure for large volumes of high-speed traffic and it is physically impossible to do 100 miles in 100 minutes unless you have a helicopter. Plus parking in any of the large towns and cities is expensive, and parking fines very expensive indeed. But by car is a great way to get around if you are planning on staying away from cities. For accommodation, you could try www.hostelworld.com (does all kinds of accommodation), or www.familyhomes.ie, which does Bed & Breakfast places, which are usually family-run. You could also look at www.discoverireland.ie for more information.

when we visit ireland we never have a problem finding good cheap accomodation. Asking in the local or tourist information office always works. We hire a car but i believe transport [buses etc] is ok We love it there. Everyone wants you to have a good time. we did notice in the autumn prices had risen due to euro etc. but still good
