What are the best hotels in Bucharest?

Is Bucharest a nice city to visit?

  • I really want to visit Bucharest but I don't know if it's the right city for me. I like busy cities with history, that are cheap with good shops and a very different culture to my own (I'm from Ireland). But I like pretty cities that aren't run down and from looking at Bucharest on Google Street View it doesn't look very tidy and is full of high-rise apartment blocks. I also don't know whether there is allot for a tourist to do in Bucharest. If you are Romanian or have visited Bucharest would you recommend it for a city break? Thanks!

    Yes, I am in Bucharest right now :) Only the gypsy areas are ugly. Herestrau has very nice building. As well as Sector 4. If you are in Romania you should visit Cluj or Bran! Those cities are just beautiful!

Been there - don't consider it to be one of the better cities of the many that I have visited. Much of the old city was destroyed by the ex Communist dictator. Prefer Budapest,Prague,Riga,Krakov.

Since it's the country's capitol, you should have a good time there. Just watch where you go at night because you never know what could happen.
