How much would an EF educational tour cost?

EF Education Tours (Europe) Questions?

  • Has anyone ever been on an EF Tour? A group of kids from my high school will be going to Italy and Switzerland this June and I'm really interested in going. I just have a few questions for anyone that has experienced it or know someone that has. 1. Was it worth the money? (It cost $3500 for the whole thing, but about $4000 when you add the insurance, spending money, Swiss Folklore Event, Pisa, etc) 2. Was the food good? 3. Are the hotels nice? 4. Are the tour guides friendly? 5. What countries did you go to? 6. How was the plane ride? (I've been on 12 planes before... And once I flown to the UK, so I'm not really worried about the time on the plane since I'm used to it) 7. Was it worth your time? 8. Did you get to meet any foreign people? 9. Did they rush you to go places? 10. How was the bus ride? 11. How many in a room? 12. Would you recommend it? 13. Anything else you can think of :) Thank you.

Hi N., 4k is certainly a lot of money, especially in today's economy. I think you may be looking at this the wrong way, its difficult to put a price tag on an experience that will last a lifetime. Is the food good? I would imagine that most of it has been "Americanized", but you will have opportunities to eat the local cuisine. If your the adventurist type the food will be fine. remember, its only one part of the overall experience. Hotels are likely NOT to be of the five star variety. However the sheets should be clean and there will be indoor plumbing. The guides are very friendly (they expect a tip at the end) The plane ride is as your aware... long and boring. bring a magazine (you want stuff that you can leave, you don't want to haul extra weight around europe) Time is invaluable, even a young persons. It will be what you make of it if you take advantage of what's offered. You will meet foreigners (technically YOU will be the foreigner). Odds are you will meet many people your age on other and similar tours who you will form long lasting friendships (if you are the gregarious type) Yes, they do tend to rush you from place to place on occasion. There will/should be "down" time where you (and some friends) can go and explore on your own or re-visit places you didn't get enough time to see. Come-on...its a bus! It will be a good time to chat with new friends. How many in a room? usually that depends on the price you pay... I would expect two per room. check with the booking company. Would I recommend it? A chance to visit and explore another country & culture... of course I would! Other things... don't just sleep in on "off-days", be adventurous! To get a true feeling for another land, I have always befriended a few locals and tried to find out what they like to do and where they go. Its always made for a truly unique experience (do NOT go alone!!! safety first you know.) Find out if there are alternatives... sometimes the guide can suggest something else to do rather than go with the group (again, don't go off on your own, but a small group should be fine). If you can afford it, then its worth it. If its marginable then perhaps its something to do next year (Switzerland will still be there). there is plenty of information about tours to Switzerland and what to see and do there, so check the web and get a feeling for some of the things you would like to see and do. See how they match-up with the tour as presented.
