What are crazy things to do in Europe?

What are good things to do in Europe?

  • I am planning a trip with my best friend to Europe. We want to spend most of our time in Germany but we would like to see everything else in Europe. The trip is going to be between 3-4 weeks long. If you have personal experiences or suggestions please tell me! I want the trip not to be completely touristy. I want to actually see what Germany is like. As well as Greece, Italy, France - anywhere actually! If you convince me, we'll go! We are going probably summer 2012. Thanksss :P

Well Europe is a pretty big place, so I guess it depends on what kind of things you are into. Switzerland is beautiful that time of year. You can go to Lauterbrunnen, the Jungfrau mountains and their ice caves, skydiving from a helicopter, and there's some caves and waterfalls a bus ride away from there (Trommelbach?). Also from Interlaken you can do other extreme things like white water rafting. But the place itself is really beautiful. In Germany there's the touristy spots, historical places, museums, plenty of things to see and do. Nearby you could visit Austria for the history, and either Austria or Amsterdam has a schnapps museum. France is great for just wandering around seeing the sights, and going to cafes and having bread, cheese and wine for almost every meal. The Louvre is huge and you'd spend at least a day wandering it if you enjoy art, and there's also plenty of smaller art galleries around like any city with a major art gallery. Italy is great and beautiful too, Venice is gorgeous if you ignore how gross the water must be, Florence is another good art place. Sorry I'm not that helpful, but it really depends on what interests you the most in your travels. Maybe you're best to go with a more touristy thing, like a Topdeck/Contiki tour to get an idea of things, then come back to the places you love and explore them more?

You want to see 'everything else' in Europe in 4 weeks? Are you out of your mind? Do you not realise just how spread out it is, and how much there is to see? My advice: start reading travel guides and figuring out what you WANT to see, and include factors such as how easy some places are to access, as not everyplace is easily accessible by public transport or is open. Your first stop should be your local library.

I like the Romanian mountains, you should try Bran castle, you may see Orăştie Mountains. Danube Delta is an old time favorite. Carpathians are just lovely. Sighisoara is rated as one of the nicest cities in the world. Romania has low tourism so this trip would be quiet :). Bucharest is known to be the second Paris.
