How to travel from Vienna to Paris?

I am traveling to Vienna within a week and i just found out that i have to go to Frankfurt and paris,?

  • any idea what would be the cheapest way to travel from Vienna to Frankfurt and from there to paris and back to vienna???? please let me know

  • Answer:

Look for a budget flight. See http://www.skyscanner.net for ideas. (Just be aware of the location of the two airports Frankfurt Main Fraport (FRA) and Frankfurt/Hahn (HHN). Hahn is about 2 hours away from Frankfurt and Fraport.) Air Berlin seems to have the best deals for flights to and from Vienna, see: http://www.airberlin.com Book the tickets ASAP, the prices will rise fast once the flight is less than a week away. Travel would would also be possible by bus or train, with bus being the cheaper option but also the slowest and least convenient. Train is expensive, regular fare is approx. 120 EUR for Vienna-Frankfurt and 100 EUR for Frankfurt-Paris. But you can try to get a special offer for a night train: Go to http://www.bahn.de, change the language to English, and look for the CNL leaving Vienna at 20:28. Cheapest available fare is 29 EUR in a reclining seat and 59 EUR for couchette. Book as soon as possible. It is also true that the ICE and TGV train connections from Frankfurt Hbf to Paris are just as fast flying if you take transfer to and from the airports into account. BTW, if you book a hotel room in Paris through Ameropa (=german rail travel agency), the train ticket from any point of Germany to Paris is 99 EUR return. It can be a real bargain if you had been planning to stay at a similar hotel anyway. Ask at any German train station or any travel agency with a DB license. Train sites: http://www.oebb.at - Austrian http://www.bahn.de - German http://www.sncf.fr - French Buses to Frankfurt depart Vienna 19:30 hrs (Mon Wed Fri and Sun) and 23:45 (Tue and Thu) and are in Frankfurt the next day. Fare is 55 EUR one-way. Buses from Frankfurt to Paris depart at 22:00 hrs daily and arrive he next morning at 07:00 hrs in Paris. One-way fare is 43 EUR. (Note that http://eurolines.fr has a special offer: 18 EUR Paris-Frankfurt-Paris. See their website.) For bus tickets contact: Deutsche Touring Telephone: +49 69 7903-501 (from outside of Germany ) E-Mail: [email protected] http://www.touring.de Eurolines Austria Tel: +43 1 798 29 00 (from outside of Austria ) E-Mail: [email protected] http://www.eurolines.at Eurolines France [email protected] http://www.eurolines.fr And one last advice: Eurail is not a bargain at all - in 90 percent of all cases you pay the same for a Eurail pass as you would pay for regular tickets. And watch out for hotels around the train station in Frankfurt - it is the red light district so you probably don't want to stay there.
