You do not give enough details for a useful answer. Now the question makes less sense than 'I want to travel from Canada to the USA and then on to Mexico by rail' as Europe has so many more options for train travel than North America. You can use the German rail planner to work out your travel schedule, it is also available in English and knows the times for the trains in France and Spain as well as its native Germany: http://www.bahn.com/i/view/GBR/en/index.shtml A rail pass, like Eurail, can be good, but most people will spend less on train tickets than they would have spend on a railpass.
