How much money should i take for a trip to Europe?

  • hi, I'm going on a trip to Europe in a few weeks and it is totally a last minutes surprise. My girlfriend's dad is buying the plane tickets and most probably hotels/ hostels. The only thing i would have to pay would be expenses, food, souvenirs, etc... how much money should i bring? oh and we're going for three weeks to Madrid, Barcelona, then to Paris, Florence, Rome, and Venice. Thanks! oh and if anyone has any tips of how to save money i would appreciate it

    Each of the cities you've mentioned are quite expensive! One tip would be not to eat or drink at the tourist places...you'll be paying tourist prices! Eat and drink where the local people are...the quality of the food is usually much better not to mention the price! It would be worth buying a travel guide book for Europe...there will be plenty of good advice and tips...the book will more than pay for itself. Seeing as accommodation has been taken care of, I'd reckon on a minimum of €2000 but if you could manage more it would be better. Travellers cheques are not as common in Spain or Italy Bring debit/credit card for easy withdrawal at ATM's and if bringing cash, for a better rate change it on arrival...but NOT at the airport(rip off exchange rates). The €2000 you...your girlfriend should bring the same also

Are you flying from city to city too?? I went for five weeks back in October and had $3000 euros and that included money for hostels, food etc. Given that there is two of you I would say anywhere between 3000-5000 euros would be just fine.

bring as much as you can! i'm going to the uk for 5 weeks and bringing $7000. i'm saving about 80% of my pay check. that's a good way to save for it.
