What do you think about Italy?

  • I'm italian and I live in Milan..I know that in the other country Italy is rapresented only with mafia, spaghetti and now also spazzatura but Italy is not so...And so what do you think about Italy?Sorry for the wrong english :-)

  • Answer:

I love Italy, I have only been once, but I love the food, the wine, the culture. I have dated a few Italians in my day, and they were very beautiful men (both happened to be very possessive but...that doesn't go for everyone) If people are ignorant to think of Italy only for its stereotypes that is there loss.

I do not know the answer yet.But I shall certainly form an opinion after my trip to your Milan,Venice,Rome and Florence from 7th to 18th of May.But I have been warned of pickpockets and muggers though.Of course they are everywhere but more so in Italy they say.

Oh, no...that's not true at all. We also know about the wonderful antiquities in Rome, the Renaissance treasures of Florence, and the exotic beauty of Venice. With the Torino Olympics still so fresh in our minds, most of us remember all the great publicity about your region, too. There was a wonderful movie a few years ago called "Under the Tuscan Sun," which, (obivously) featured the Tuscan countryside, and there are many people who watch lots of travel shows, which feature EVERY region of your country...one of your countrymen narrated a short series called "Italy from top to toe" which did an EXCELLENT job of showing off tons of regions that were pretty obscure and unique. (Francesco somebody...lives in Venice, and came from someplace else). Rick Steves does a wonderful job of showing us some tiny, out-ot-the way corners of every European country, and I can't remember the program that showed all the wonderful Lake District around the Venetian province. (we're travel show junkies at my house). But really, we know much more of your country than these fun stereotypes. They make for good drama on tv and in the movies, but most of us know better than that they are all there is. (or even that there is much truth to them). Ciao Bella

I used to think of it pretty much how you described it, but my girlfriend has cured me of that. She's from Trieste, and while I haven't been back with her yet, I can't wait. Also, I've never heard of spazzatura, and your English is pretty good.

My family is from Italy. My parents came to America in 1958. I have family in Torino. I love Italy and think it is great. But I also think it is similar to the US. Europe is beautiful because of all its antique buildings and scuptures.

I like Italy... Florence is the #1 place for my future wedding. Also, Itlay invented one of the world's best foods like spaghetti, pizza, raviolli...mmmmm...raviolli (drool)

I've heard it's beautiful. It's #1 on my list of places I have to visit before I die. Italian is also my favorite type of food. Can't wait to try the REAL thing.
