What's good to do in Philadelphia in December when travelling on a shoestring budget?

Whats a good budget when your travelling around Europe?

  • My 3 other friends and i are planning on travelling around Europe for 5 weeks. We are planning to go to the following countries: UK Czech Republic Spain Vienna France We would be staying at Hostels for cheaper price so maybe about 30 euros a day?

  • Answer:

Except Czech republic they are all in the expensive parts of Europe. I would say at least € 75 per person per day. That is when you do your own cooking from cheap supermarket supplies, spend little on sight seeing and drinking. Eating the cheap local versions of fast food might be possible for this budget too. With € 30 per day you will just have enough money for a place to sleep and breakfast, maybe a small lunch but certainly not for dinner, transportation, going out or even getting a bottle of soft drink or some beer from the supermarket.

I'm from Czech Republic. From these Czechia is the cheapest. Try application "airbnb", there are cheap prices.

Not counting travel 45 - 60€/day. Add your travel on top of that (averaged in) and you'll probably end up spending a total of 80€/day, multiplied by 35 days is 2800€ total. Here's how I got that number Hostels cost anywhere from 15 - 20€/day Food will cost you anywhere from 10 - 20€/day Your mode of transportation will be the biggest factor determining your budget. Some places you visit, you will be able to walk everywhere, others you will have to take a bus (about 3€ round trip depending on the the place you're visiting. Traveling from country to country depends on whether or not you fly or take the Eurail, as the prices will differ greatly depending on how many countries you plan to visit. Lastly, you have to take into account that it will cost money to do some things, for example in Scotland Edinburgh Castle is 14£. Czech republic is cheap, you could eat decently for 30 euros a day. The rest.. a cheap lunch of a sandwich and a drink, 5-6 euros. Breakfast the same. Dinner, a fast food meal, 6-7 euros. A Simple 2 course meal in an out of the way place, 20 euros. A simple hostel, 25-35 euros a night. Entry fees to any high profile tourist thing 5-15 euros. We've not even touched transport yet.

Are you going to be eating out a lot? That will enter into the budget. Souvenirs, site attractions, phone costs, etc. can add a lot. It is better to take a shorter vacation and not scrimp too much than take a long vacation and not be able to have too much fun.

hostels will be anything from 20-25€. So 30 a day won't be enough. I think 45-60 a day is perfectly fine and you won't starve.
