Are there any good hostels in Madrid, and are Madrid hostels cheap?

Anyone know about hostels in Europe?

  • Im due to visit Madrid and ive found some hostels, ive asked my contack in Spain if there any good, but i was wondering anyone with past experience in staying a shared dorm particually a lone female What can you do with your luggage as others will have access to the room too??

  • Answer:

My wife has toured the World using hostels. that was before she was married! We still use some hostels together. Like hotels they change with the manager. But as a whole my wife has had a great time. No problems as a lone traveller. as she has told me you just have to know the area you are going to as in the town or city. There are only a few travel hot spots in Europe, which you need to be careful. But Spain we find OK. Hostel Paz has a good reputation. even though it is just off a dark street near to C Arenal. Clean good rooms and quite. not cheap though. Hostel Madrid like a 4-5 star backpackers but not cheap about 65 - 70 Euro. Hostel- Residencia Rober C. Arenal is Good value about 5 years ago renavated No smoking , has singles with own shower. good reputation and price 30- 50 euro. may you enjoy your break. we will be touring as from next week. Germany and Austria in our van, hostels and camping. get a good guide like the Let's go and watch your bags make sure your passport is safe and good insurance just in case.

It's a great experience, from what I've heard. Be open to other cultures, but careful as well. Most people are honest, but just don't wear any expensive jewelry or anything. If you don't come off as super rich, no one will try to rob you. Of course, use your common sense.

I have stayed in a few around europe and most have lockable bins or cabinets by your bed and almost every hostel has a safe deposit box at the check in desk, as for mixed dorms i stayed in one in amsterdam it was one of the best weeks of my life, you will be safe enough have a good time.

Hi, I stay in hostels everywhere I go. The best place to find your hostel is on Hostelworld.com. Youy can sort the hostels buy ratings, and read the reviews to find the best one. I've stayed in several in Madrid ... What you prefer is a female dorm but a mixed dorm will be just as good, and make sure the hostel has a common room so you can meet other travellers then you will have more fun. Normally there are lockers you can use, but TAKE YOUR OWN PADLOCK just in case !!! make sure you take good earplugs to help you sleep! I've never had a problem with security, and never regretted stayin in a hostel where I met other travellers. When in Madrid, try to take a couple of day trips by train to the classical cities of Toledo and Salamanca - that will really round out your trip! A couple of years ago, I stayed in the Cats Hostel - and it was brilliant then, but I've also stayed in Los Amigos, and a couple of others! I've put the links below ... HTH Happy Trails Philip
