How much does renting a flat in spain cost?

Renting car for europe travel?

  • I am going to spend my summer vacation in Spain, Italy, Greece and Turkey, each about 10 days. I was wondering if renting a car in each of the country is a good idea. This is my first time traveling in Europe and I have heard that petrol price is the one that will cost a bomb(not the rental). Also, I am worried about hidden charges.

  • Answer:

It's actually quite easy to rent a car in Europe; You need your passport, a valid drivers license and preferably a visa card... Petrol is about 1 euro depending on the country you are... A good hint for you : it's best to rent a car from the big/well known car rental firm...they have their contracts also written in English so you'll understand what you are reading... Normally you can rent a car in your hotel, which is very easy because the cars are parked there and you have to return them there. Have fun on your vacation!

Depending where you go to. Turkey def. is a place to have a car, Greece is not if you plan on island hopping. Driving a car in Italy borders on suicide, because Italian drivers have quite the reputation as being utterly mad. A car in Spain can be nice, but will be useless if all you want to do is sunbathing on the beach. Plus, if you are used to driving on the left-hand side of the road, switching to the right can be very disorienting. Have you investigated Eurail/Interrail yet?

I live in Spain and petrol price here is about €1.05/litre this morning. Some of the larger car rental companies will allow cross border travel but this also means paying large company prices.

The price of petrols varies between $5 - $8 per gallon (depending on a country) in these days. (Sales tax inclusive - it's always inclusive in the price in Europe)

It is actually very reaonsble to rent a car in Europe. The cars are small so you will get many miles (or KM) to the gallon (or Liter) but gas IS expensive.. all you need is a passport, it is fairly simple. Just be sure to keep an eye out for how the road signs work and understanding a bit of the local language helps!
