How to communicate with foreign exchange students?

Where did you exchange Euro to American Money?

  • I went to Madrid, Spain and Paris, France in March with my classmates and a few staff for a week. We been there for like 3 days in Spain then another 3 days in France. A day I was in the train for 12 hours from Spain to France. I got back to America from Europe. I was VERY exhausted from this trip, it was about 12 hours on the airplane. I went bed asleep in the afternoon because I didn't sleep on the airplane very well. My mind was running crazy when I woke up in afternoon but I went to bed like 5 in the morning about like the night time in Spain and France this time. I had fun in Europe, shopping for few things and stuff. Me and my classmates tried their food and went to two different deaf schools, one in Spain and one in France. I tried to communicate with Spain students with their sign language and it was fun. I know Spanish better than French. I tried both of it and it was FUN! Even we went in king castles in Spain and France. It was pretty HUGE! A lot of paintings and body statues with some poses. I went to Louvre Pyramid and visited Mona Lisa. I went top of Eiffel Tower with my classmates and few teachers. They were scared of heights. Lol. It was SO much fun when the lights were flashing on the Eiffel Tower at the night! After all my spring break trip, I was busy with my high school. I graduated in June, had a graduation party with my family and friends few weeks later after graduation. I moved out of my parents' house ... I moved in with my fiance of 3 years and now we are married. Last night, I was unpacked a few things and I found out that I still have Euro in my memories box. I thought that I don't need it anymore. I can keep just few of them. A lot of them left that I don't need use anymore so I will need to exchange them to America dollars. I want to get rid of many things that I had and my husband don't need them. We don't want to be "hoarder" ourselves. We have regular things that we can put away especially not so many things that not used or anything like that. We went to Fort Wayne, Indiana airport and they said they don't exchange international money and I don't know where can I exchange the Euro money around Fort Wayne? Thanks!

  • Answer:

First check with your own bank. You can probably deposit the Euros and the bank will credit the deposit in Dollars.

If these are Euro notes, then you can exchange these at most banks. But coins will not be accepted anywhere.

If you find a bank that exchanges cash, you will lose $ 5 or so of its value to a fee, on top of that you will loose a few percent of the value. Look for people going to Europe and do an informal exchange. If your school is going to Europe each year, you can wait till near the time they leave. Or you can put a small add on Craig's list, or even in a shop, you might find someone who will need some Euro soon. Google for the exchange rates when you are both there, Dollar to Euro or Euro to Dollar will show you the daily worth, and both of you will be better off.
