I'm going to Croatia over Easter, what are the best islands to visit?
-
We're going to be travelling down from Slovenia seeing some of the other cities before arriving into Zadar, Split and Dubrovnik. I prefer to get off the beaten track and see the real croatia, does anyone have any advice on where best to visit? Also, which of the touristy islands are worth a visit too? Thanks!!

Answer:
Well dont miss the beach called "Bol" on Is.Brac, its triangular, and moves with the current. Just gorgeous. Hvar has the best weather in all Croatia, dont miss that. You can get a half day boat ride including lunch which does Brach & Hvar, departing from Makarska on the mainland. Korcula is also lovely, you can visit the birth place of Marco Polo. Further north, Pag is interesting, and they make some of the best and most expensive cheese in the country. Rab too is great, and one of the sunniest in the whole Adriatic, with a large coverage of natural woodland. Krk is the largest island with beautiful architecture, and lots of churches, little fishing villages and beaches. Brijuni is very interesting, its made up of 14 islands, and is protected a national park. Have heaps of fun, its a really lovely country, just remember to haggle the prices on any excursions. And if you have lunch on the "Stradun" in Dubrovnik, go down the little side streets, you'll get better sevice and prices. Make sure you buy some "Rakiya" from one of the stalls on the side of the road, it'll knock your socks off!!

I've heard the Brijuni Islands are great. They are 14 islands in an archipelago. It even has a national park. Try Cres, as well, because it has the reputation of being the second-largest island in the Adriatic. Rab is great because of its scenery. It has such great pines forests that dazzle the mind. You can't leave without trying the Kornati Islands, which has 140 islands. Hvar is the sunniest of the islands and a lot of the accommodations are free. Those are probably the best. Have a great time in Croatia!! E-mail me and tell me how it went.

Pag (near Zadar), Brac and Makarska (off Split), Korcula (near Dubrovnik) is my "bet". Take your pick!
