Is it possible to go to a college overseas like in Amsterdam?

Where should we go in Europe?

  • Me and friends are wanting to make a trip by the end of next summer. We are all about 20-22 and have been wanting to go to Europe, we're doing it more to have fun, so all the sightseeing is important to us, but...things like partying are important as well. We're all college kids, money isnt growing on trees, so as cheap as possible, but not so cheap that the trip wouldnt be worth it. Everyone has said things like Amsterdam and Munich(oktoberfest) but were afraid those places are overrated. Anyone have any suggestions for where it is that we should begoing from your own experiences?

  • Answer:

    Eastern Europe- Poland

Amsterdam is great. Ibiza was real fun. Spain is wonderful, so is Italy. I liked Edinburgh a lot because its where the family came from, its got wonderful people and great architecture. I got incredible bargains at hostels in Switzerland--its an expensive country but the hostels I stayed at were the best deal.

If you want to do some sightseeing, but also have some great partying, and save money, I would do something like Paris - Munich - Ljubljana - Budapest - Krakow - Prague - Berlin - Amsterdam I've been to Budapest, Krakow, Prague, Berlin and Amsterdam, and I LOVED every single one of them. Amsterdam is definitely not overrated, and these are a few of the top cities in which to party in Europe. It's an easy loop, and the farther east & south you go, the cheaper you're getting, so if you want to keep your costs down, consider avoiding countries that use the Euro. Krakow has the highest number of bars and pubs per capita in the world (or so they claim), Budapest is quickly becoming known as a huge party city, Prague has the largest club in central Europe. You might want to look into doing an escorted tour (Topdeck/Contiki/Busabout & many others) because they are a good way to save money, they take the stress out of traveling, you're pretty much guaranteed to have a good time and make friends, lots of them will give you a discount if you book together. I just did one and I can proudly say that I managed to get drunk in 11 different countries this summer (UK, Germany, Netherlands, Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Austria, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic) and partied harder than I ever thought possible, and still managed to sightsee in every place!! I really loved Eastern Europe, I would definitely recommend it, especially if you're trying to save money. Italy, France, Spain, Switzerland are all really lovely countries, but can definitely get quite expensive. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me m_dubrofsky at hotmail.com

Barcelona is a good place to go... it is good for sightseeing as you can get hop on hop off buses and there is lots of history and culture and there is also good nightlife! It's good for art aswell. You can get cheap ryan air, easyjet, jet2 etc. flights there from lots of places in the UK and in Europe and the airport is quite near to the city centre!

Check with ryanair.com. It's sometimes cheaper (specially if it's a weekday) to travel by plane than using the rail. They offer budget accomodations too. I suggest that you visit London, Paris, Nice, Versailles, Monaco, Geneva, Rome, Pisa, Venice, Florence.
