Where in Europe should I go to for a trip?

If starting in Dublin where should I go on two-week trip of Europe w/ three friends?

  • I am asking early just to prepare but I plan on going back to Ireland next summer or fall and bringing some friends with me who have never seen Europe. I was there interning last summer and saw pretty much all of Ireland and not much more so I am itching to go back. They also want to see Dublin too but we do want to travel outside Ireland some too. It will be a short trip, probably two weeks, due to work. I know for sure we will hit London too but where else would be a must-see that we could legitimately see that is a must-see and that we wouldn't have to rush through if we visit there. We all will also be on a budget too since we are recent college grads, so I guess take that in to consideration too. Would appreciate any help or advice, even websites would be helpful too. Thanks.

Dude, I spent 6 months in western Europe in 2002 after graduating from college. I saw every country except for Portugal, Austria, and Finland. My first advice is to not go back to Dublin. Why? You've been there. As Patton once said "I don't like to pay for the same real estate twice." And your friends really won't mind NOT going there, because wherever you do go will be new to them also. I recommend Rome. Its a MUST! There's tons to do and see, the food is fabulous, the women are bellas, and you can also say you've been to the Vatican. Other places you could do that would be close to London, but not as great as Rome are: Paris, Barcelona, and Amsterdam. I've been to all of them, and they are all great. Barcelona is great for relaxing and partying at the same time. Amsterdam is pretty laid back, but the tourist attractions and far and few. Paris is great, but its pretty big and spread out. You might want to find an author called "Rick Steves." His books are mainly for baby boomers, but they are small (literally fit in a pocket) and give you only the best of what to see. Its an easy, witty, fun read when you're there.
