Where in Europe is the best place to go to see the oldest most spectacular buildings like the Parthenon,?

    Dear BBarker: I recently returned from Turkey, Greece & Italy. The "Best"? : * Ephesus, in Turkey, totally blew me away! It's outside the Port City of Kusadasi. Walk The Agoura & check out the ruins of this Ancient City. * Walk around ROME! The Pantheon, Coliseum & Hippodrome. * Istanbul/Constantinople is rich with Culture, Mosques & Buildings. * Visit Old FLORENCE. The Art will amaze you! Do any & all of the above~ you will NOT be disappointed! Have fun! I did!

Hi, I agree that Greece would be great for you to visit, in particular Athens. You can see sights like the Acropolis and the Panathenaic stadium which was home to the first Olympic games. You could also take day trips to other beautiful towns and islands like Mycenae and Aegina where you'll be able to ancient palaces and temples. There are some interesting places in Croatia, too. You've got the amphitheatre in Pula (the so called Arena), the Diocletian's Palace in Split and the old city of Dubrovnik, just to name a few.
