What is the best country to live in Europe?

I want to live in europe for a few years, i dont care what country. what job programs are out there?

  • I dont care what country I live in, im concerned about what types of jobs or oppurtunities there is out there. Is there any American companies that are based in europe that are fairly easily obtained? Im currently in the military but will be out in a yr. I just want the chance to live and see the culture for a yr or so.

  • Answer:

I know some former american soldiers who are now employed as civilians in the american bases in Germany. That is an option for you too, maybe. Otherwise you need to have very good skills (for instance IT or engineering) to get a work permission. Consider that in most european countries a good command of the local language is required (exceptions: if you work for firms like GE, IBM or similar in the development sector). So you might not care where you go to, but your employer might. You might have better chances if you apply in England or Ireland, since language won't be an issue.

I agree with Laura - check out civilian jobs based on military bases on this website - www.usajobs.gov. This lists all federal jobs available, and you can sort it by country or regions in which the jobs are based. If you click on "Search Jobs" and then "Advanced Search", you will see a drop down menu labelled "Location" that allow you to pick European countries and see what jobs are available there.
