How to bring a laptop from USA to Portugal?

Can i bring a new laptop from the USA back to Europe without paying tax?

• I'm going to visit USA and I would like to buy a new laptop there, because they have a much cheaper market.. Do I have to pay tax even if I bring it back myself, as a tourist? Is it ok if I have it in my suitcase? (I will also carry a second one)

  Never put a laptop in your check in luggage. First of all, it is against the rules, lap tops need to be in hand luggage and be inspected in the security check. Secondly, never put anything of value in your check in luggage, it is likely to go missing and is not insured. Thirdly, never put anything breakable in your luggage, the luggage handling staff throws with bags and cases and stack them without any respect for the contents. Besides, you will collect your check in luggage before you go through customs at nearly all airports, so you will still have everything (if not stolen) with you when you go through the check. You are allowed a certain amount of value, but whether your laptop fits in that budget depends on the budget and your country you do not mention. Best to be honest about it and report it as bought abroad. But if you like to try, a laptop in use does not raise eyebrows anymore, even newish ones.
