How can I get around paying extra charges when traveling by train through Italy with a Eurail pass?

I can't figure out the Eurail Pass!?

  • I am traveling to Europe and want to get a Eurail Pass. What I don't understand is which train lines does the pass cover? For example their site says that they feature Eurostar lines but then in FAQ's it says that Eurostar is not included in the pass. Does anyone have any experience with this? I just don't want to buy the pass if I'm going to have to pay again for each ride I book.

    Hey check this link out... it's about a global pass for the biggest part of Europe, don't know if it's the same as the Eurail Pass... (as it is called differently) It is true that the Eurostar or Thallys isn't included... for these trains you always have to pay extra... Hope you have fun in Europe and do visit Belgium...good food, lots to see and nice people!

figure out what countries you are going too. Then figure out how many times you will be traveling in a 24 hour period (1 ticket for 24 hours of travel) Some Eurail passes are for 1 country, 3 countries and then unlimited travel....You need to decide what countries and how many times....If you are traveling with children they are some massive discounts...good luck

Download this eurail guide (link below). It has a worksheet which helps you decide wether it's good to buy a Eurail Pass or not. It all depends on how many days you're going to travel.
