Looking for a cheap way to hike in the french alps with group?

I am coming to france for a long holiday and want to start off by trekking in the french Alps for a week or more (would like to do the Mont Blanc area though not the actual mountain (not yet!)). I don't want to spend huge amounts of money as I don't think it's necessary but I need help with knowing how to join a holiday group with preferably french speakers as I plan to improve my french. Any advice appreciated. Many thanks
