What are the best jobs in Norway?

Can international students at the University of Oslo in Norway have part time jobs?

  • I plan on pursuing a Masters Degree at the University of Oslo and I was wondering if international students can have part time jobs in the city. What kind of jobs? And how much would a basic part time job pay? Any additional information about student life (esp. for international students) is appreciated.

  • Answer:

From the UDI website on student's and part time work you can work up to 20 hours during term time as you'll normally be granted a part time work permit with your full time study visa. Jobs depends on your skills, language and so on. Good news is most jobs pay OK so even working in a pizza place might be a good supplement to your studies. Try Finn.no or NAV for jobs. Most adverts will be in Norwegian though. UiO has info for international students. Try the International Students Society for support and help as they'll know better than most.

Other answers

Depends on what their visa entitles. Are you using a student, or tourist visa? Will you be applying for a temporary visa down the road and possibly establishing residency or getting Norwegian citizenship?
