Is my route around Europe feasible?

  • I am travelling around Europe next summer and we're thinking about what route to take. We're driving as well, anyone have any tips on driving around Europe? It is not my intention to offend, but I'm surprised you didn't state the time of arrival at and departure from, each destination! Instead of going from city to city, why don't you stop off at some of the smaller towns en route....you would get a much better feel of each country that way.You would probably find places where you would like to stay longer than you had originally planned. Years ago I did a road trip from Ireland to Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Austria and back over France. We avoided the cities, and we saw some beautiful places off the beaten paths. Nearly all of the places you've mentioned are top tourist places = expensive! You would need about €100 per day each for accommodation, food and other incidental. Petrol and toll charges extra. If you ever do it, just get in the car and go with the flow....don't give yourselves a timetable/itinerary. Be flexible. Driving around mainland Europe is a doodle, every place is well signposted.
